London Branch Geological Events

Fieldwork is an essential part of geology. Whether it is someone looking at rocks for the first time or people engaged in speciality research, the field element is essential. The OUGS organises field trips - loads of them - as well as lectures, revision events, conservation and other activities. These events are open to all members of the OUGS, their family members and guests.  A small fee is charged for each lecture and day trip to cover the leaders expenses and insurance etc.  Weekend and longer trips are self financing.

Always check the latest issue of "London Platform" for up to date information on any event, or check with the event's organiser. Details of events more than two months ahead are provisional.

The following pages now have the complete 2010 programme.  See below for the complete LOUGS Calendar.

Registering Your Interest In An Event

Now there is a new and convenient way of registering for or asking questions about any or all of our events online, using the Registration Form.

Simply select the events you are interested in, enter your contact details and press the button. The organisers of the events you have selected will contact you and confirm your registration. You can use the form as many time as you like and you are not committed to anything by registering an interest - you are saving the LOUGS money and the organisers' time by registering in this way. Go on, give it a go. If you have any problems or questions, please contact me at paul@lougs.org.uk.

Geological Lectures and Events
LOUGS organises evening lectures in a Central London venue on various geological topics.   Most of the lectures are given by professional geologists.
Day Field Trips
A variety of field trips are organised throughout the year.  These range from mapping, fossil collecting through to the ever popular "geowalks".
Weekend and Longer Trips
A good mixture of socialising and serious geology make the London Branch weekend trips so successful.
